Contemporary art seeks diverse ways of communicating and touching feelings. nkd’s international exhibition - Norse Ferry Tales - focuses on the reality of people in a specific geographical area. The themes of the exhibition are exodus, transit, longing to go away and yearning to come back again. Human experiences like longing to go out into the big world and return back home again are dependent on each individual and the way they react to their life’s happenings. It is said that even though one may speak many languages fluently, one can have only one mother tongue. Can this be true of home too ?
The works in Norse Ferry Tales are approachable and complex at the same time. They touch on feelings experienced by all human beings, sometimes subconsciously, sometimes politically, and sometimes purely romantically.

9 artists and collectives from the Nordic countries participate in the international exhibition produced by nkd, The Nordic Artists Centre in Dale. More than twelve works of contemporary art and design are installed on public ferries and connecting piers in Sogn & Fjordane County in Norway, for a period of eight months.
